State member for North Shore Felicity Wilson says the paperwork has now been done to reclaim the derelict house at 1 Henry Lawson Drive in McMahons Point and return the land to the community as parkland.
“Up until now, Blues Point has been split in two by private land, so securing this acquisition and finalising this land transfer is a big win for the local community and visitors to the area,” Wilson said.
“I have worked side-by-side with our community and advocated within Government to achieve this outcome. I made the promise before the last election that I would see it through – and I have. Wherever possible, I have worked to expand our public lands and increase our parks to ensure that our local community has much-needed open space and amenity,” she said.
According to Wilson, 1 Henry Lawson Avenue is currently home to a dilapidated building which will be demolished to make way for continuous public access along the foreshore while respecting and restoring the heritage of the early 20th-century slipway.
