Northbridge FC Women heading for the top flight – North Sydney Sun

Northbridge’s women football team is set for promotion from the FNSW League 1 to the top tier r finishing in the top 3 in the competition they have become eligible for promotion to the topflight. Despite a slow start to the season, an incredible 13 game unbeaten streak propelled them into not just the finals but also a promotion spot. The squad has been in great form, especially striker Tamris Souza, who leads the league in goals with an incredible 43. The team is very likely to make the step up, as long as the club can meet competition requirements of suitable playing grounds, finance, player availability and other considerations. Northbridge is expected to be fine in this regard, considering their men’s side already compete at this level.

However, this may come with a downside for local football as Northbridge Oval is not up to NPL standards which has already left the men stuck playing 43km away at Edensor Park in Sydney’s West. For now, the women’s squad will be focused on round 1 of the finals where they will face Hills United tomorrow night at 6:00PM at Blacktown City Sport Centre.
Bears’ Kirra Dibb wins player of the year

North Sydney Bears player Kirra Dibb won the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership Player of the Year Award at this week’s Brad Fittler Medal dinner hosted by New South Wales Rugby League. According to the Bears, “Dibb had a cracking year in Red & Black, catching the attention of representative footy recruits and winning her spot back on the NSW Blues Women’s Origin team this year, after a two-year hiatus. This achievement came off the back of hard work, digging deeper to find that next level within herself and a strong support network around her backed by the Bears at every step in the 2022 season.”
