Bears take on Whales in heated North Shore derby.

In day 1 of a 2-day test Norths have a challenge on their hands against local rivals Mosman. The Whales were bowled out after posting an impressive 320 runs off 94 balls. Norths pacemen James Campbell took 6/55 while Oliver Knight claimed 3 wickets off 73 runs. Importantly for Norths English wicket keeper James Rew debuted and is expected to play a huge part in the season with the bat too. The rivals will pick up next weekend with the Bears heading into bat.
UTS Northern Suburbs Athletics
UTS Norths athletes were back at it again at Sydney Olympic Park for round 2 of the Trelour Shield. The club had great results in both the opens and masters events. Deborah Drennan at age 64 recorded a 1:28.62 in the 400 metres Women’s Masters. Luke van Ratingen led the field in the men’s 400-metre opens with 46.59 in the women’s 100 metre masters Norths took out the top two spots with Kylie Strong and Maria Cimino running below 15.30 times. Maria would back this up in the field, throwing 20.36 in the javelin. Meanwhile, in the women’s 100 metre open Bronte Pickering came in first with a 12.19 closely followed by impressive 17-year-old young gun; Gabby Taylor only 0.1 milliseconds behind her teammate.
